Road Crash: FRSC Tags Abuja, Kano, Kogi, Lagos, Ibadan As Black Spots.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has marked Abuja, Kano, Kogi, Lagos and Ibadan roads as danger spots in road safety management, stating that these areas are very volatile and prone to higher crashes resulting in high numbers of deaths and loss of property with very minimal injuries.

The spokesperson, Mr. Jonas Agwu, at a press briefing to unveil their 2012 half year report told newsmen that “the Commission is taking proactive measures towards combating the challenges and very high ranking officers of the Corps have been drafted to those areas with an autmatum of dealing with the challenges.”

According to the report, more crashes occurred between January and June of 2012, numbering 2717 than in 2011 which recorded 2235 but the number of those killed in the crashes between within the period of 2012 was less resulting to 1,936 than that of 2011 where 2,218 were killed.

“Though casualty level when compared to 2011 was higher this year, the number of offenders dropped from 267,249 to 257,759 in 2012.
