NUC Lifts Suspension On Three Private Universities.

The National Universities’ Commission [NUC] today lifted the suspension order placed on three private universities out of the six it announced initially.

The pardoned universities are the Joseph Ayo Babalola University, (JABU), Ikeji-Arakeji in Osun, the Achiever’s University, Owo also in Osun and Tansian University at Umunya, Anambra.

It will be recalled that the NUC suspended these private institution license following their failure to meet up with the set targets on school facilities and academic programmes as established by the NUC

This lifting of the suspension order is contained in the NUC Monday Bulletin, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

It said the suspension was lifted because of the corrective measures taken by the universities to rectify the infractions leading to the suspension of their operational licences.

The statement said that NUC would soon send a team to conduct fresh forensic audit on the six private universities, whose licences were earlier suspended.

The NUC listed the six universities as Madonna University, Okija; Achiever’s University, Owo; and Tansian University, Umunya

Others listed by the commission are Caritas University, Amorji-Nike, Enugu, Lead City University, Ibadan, and Joseph Ayo Babalola University, (JABU), Ikeji- Arakeji, Osun.

The statement said the auditing would cover all aspects of the universities’ operations.

It will also continue to monitor the universities implementation of agreed actions.

It said the commission would, however, ensure continuous compliance with its extant guidelines and regulations.
