Chelsea’s Terry to miss City clash.

Chelsea’s interim first-team coach Roberto Di Matteo will be without John Terry for his side’s Premier League meeting with Manchester City.

Terry, 31, has recently returned from a knee injury, making his comeback in the 1-0 Premier League win over Stoke before being named in the team to face Napoli in the Champions League.

The Blues skipper was replaced in extra-time versus Napoli, appearing in some discomfort, and subsequently missed Sunday’s 5-2  FA Cup victory against Leicester.

Terry will now be absent for Chelsea’s trip to the Etihad Stadium on today night, but could make his return for the home match versus Tottenham on Saturday.

Di Matteo said: “I expect JT to be ok for Saturday, it’s only short term, we were lucky he came back so early.

“He’s a crucial member of our team and good leader on the pitch. It’s better when he’s available but he’ll be ok for Tottenham, I have to manage everybody not just one player.’

Chelsea are currently fifth in the Premier League, trailing fourth-placed Arsenal by three points.
