Muslim youths killed a Christian family of eight in Nigeria’s volatile Plateau state on Sunday, local officials said, continuing a week of violence that has pitted gangs from the two faiths against each other and civilians.
More than 40 people have been killed in the ethnically and religiously-mixed area since last Monday when Christian youths attacked some Muslims as they gathered to celebrate the end of Ramadan in the city of Jos, capital of Plateau state.
In the early hours of yesterday Sunday Sept 4, Fulani Herdsmen massacred a family of eight, a man, Mr. Chollom Gyang, his wife, Hannatu and six children, including a four-month old baby, in a village in Barkin Ladi LGA, Heipang, near Jos. The victims were killed while they were sleeping and the killers escaped into the bush immediately after the killings. They used machetes and guns. Even on a 4month old?
