Brazil Return Excites Kaka.

Kaka is determined to make a big impression after being given a recall to the Brazil squad following two years in the international wilderness.

Real Madrid’s Kaka, 30, has not represented the Selecao since the 2010 World Cup because of injury problems, but after being given the nod by manager Mano Menezes he wants to make up for lost time.

And even though he has been leapfrogged in the pecking order by a new generation of young talent, including Neymar, Oscar and Lucas Moura, the former AC Milan star says he never gave up hope of adding to his 82 caps.

He said: “Can you imagine a fresh start after what I have been through? Injuries and surgery, without knowing how, in what circumstances, I would return. It has been two years and a few months without a call-up, thus I see it as starting again. It’s like my first call-up.

“I always had thoughts of returning, but I knew he [Mano Menezes] had to respect that for a time I was not playing regularly due to injuries. But, slowly things are happening. I am very happy to be back, there is a lot to do and win. We will do it one step at a time.”

Brazil will face Iraq on Thursday in Sweden, before taking on Japan in Poland next Tuesday.
