Bayelsa State communities of Sagbama and Tungbo were yesterday submerged by flood waters from River Forcados and the tributary of the River Niger, sacking the divisional police station in the Mile 1 area of the Local Government Council.
Aside from the closure of the Divisional Police Station in the Mile 1 area of the Local Government Council, residential buildings and the community secondary schools have been swallowed by the flood, prompting indigenes to move out their belongings with canoes.
LEADERSHIP gathered that some homes of prominent residents were also affected, just as pupils of some secondary and primary schools in the area have been ordered out of class and corps members relocated to the state capital due to the loss of accomodation to the flood.
A corps member, Stephen Aboyade, told LEADERSHIP yesterday that the situation was beyond human comprehension and that the residents had been displaced with over 300 families relocating to other higher lands in the Local Government Council.
Another indigene,identified himself as Ogbo Akpoeyi,told the Leadership that the Local and State Government should respond to the cry of the people of the affected areas and asked Construction Company handling the Sagbama/Ekeremor Road to assist and construct more water outlets to help ease the water level in the community.
