Arsenal Reps Will Arrive Nigeria August 5.

Representatives of English Premier League club, Arsenal FC are expected in Nigeria on August 5th despite the postponement of the club’s initial visit to the country. The North London club had planned to visit the African nation for the first time in 19 years, which would have seen the Gunners play against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Abuja on August 5 but was postponed due to what the organisers termed ‘logistic reasons’.

The chairman, Arsenal Supporters Club, Nigeria Chapter, Wale Akanni, who disclosed this in Lagos, noted that the tour was postponed contrary to the widespread reports that it was outrightly cancelled. He revealed that Arsenal F.C. had given Danjan Sports management a period of twelve months to ensure that Nigeria fulfill its aspect of the contractual agreement before the club pay a visit to Nigeria at the end of 2012/2013 Premier League season.

Public Relations Officer of Arsenal Supporters Club, Emeka Onyenuforo, who also confirmed next month’s visit, said: “Talking about the postponement which was reported to be cancelled, by next month, there will be some players and representatives of Arsenal FC in Nigeria. They will be taking part in a couple of activities here and a formal statement would be issued concerning the visit.
