Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho was delighted after his La Liga winning team made history on Sunday by becoming the first side to record 100 points or more in a single season as they finished their brilliant domestic campaign with a 4-1 home winover Mallorca.
Real Madrid also recorded an astounding 121 goals in 38 games, with 46 of those coming from the boot of talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, and Mourinho thinks the side have grown throughout the season.
“I would like to thank everyone for this magical night,” Mourinho said. “As the best club in football history, Real Madrid try to win all the titles. This team has made history as the one that secured 100 points and these players are the ones who made that possible.
“We have grown as a team and as a group of people. We have set impressive records and won the most important title. It has been a great season. It would be impossible to improve on our numbers.”
However, with Real knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich, there is still room for improvement according to the Portuguese.
“We can add a few things so that the team is stronger,” he said. “We need to work on a psychological level, to maintain our levels of consistency and ambition. To improve in the Champions League is not easy, but it is possible and we will try to make another step forward. We do not want or need a new squad.
“(We need) just a few players to complete the group. We will do that without pressure over the coming months.”
